Virtues and Objectives of the Pilgrimage


It is for good reason and for a sublime purpose that Allah, exalted be He, prescribed acts of worship and rites. He has enjoined pilgrims to provide and recharge themselves for their hajj in Taqwa (fear of Allah): “And take your provisions, but truly the best provision is piety." (Quran: 2/197). He also says in the Quran that offerings and sacrifices are meant to promote and cultivate this feeling of fear of Allah: "And whoever exalts the holy injunctions of Allah is inspired by the piety of hearts.”. (Quran: 22/32).
